Technical Director

Background - Allan has a career of two halves - so far... Starting out as a cabinet maker and polisher for 12 years, he then moved into the IT industry in 1998 working as an application support analyst and programmer with Capgemini. He later moved into Change/Integration Management, and onto Problem Management, before leaving to work as a contractor at BT for 3 years.

Special Attributes - Problem Solving.

Loves - Music (of almost any kind...) playing Trumpet in a 9 piece soul band (Click here), playing Soprano cornet in a Brass Band (Click here), attempting to play guitar, food (especially cooking curries), drink and good times.

Dislikes - Dishonest people and Lychees!!

Allan is co-founder and Technical Director of Purple Creative Services (PCS).

A 12 year IT career, starting in applications programming with a financial software house, was followed by a move to Capgemini working in applications programming before moving into Change and Integration Management and finally Problem Management for the General Motors account.

During this time, Allan gained the ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) Foundation certificate and was instrumental in the account gaining ISO9001 accreditation.

He then took an opportunity to move to BT who were setting up a new Problem Management team for a major government account. This included setting up processes and procedures and after six months the account received ISO20001 accreditation.

Throughout this period, Allan had been designing and building websites using various web technologies for local organisations and charities. In Sept 2009, Phil Upton, who has been a long time personal friend, asked Allan to help with a particular website project and it was immediately obvious that there were further possibilities to be explored.

Since launching PCS in 2009, the company portfolio has continued to grow and now includes websites for local companies based in Yorkshire as well as further afield in Kent and Hampshire. The portfolio also includes a new Social Network platform (moanspace.com), developed and marketed by PCS, which has a worldwide user base and continues to grow.

Allan’s early career was in the furniture industry as a cabinet maker. He is married with 2 children and in his spare time is a trumpet player in a local soul band and a cornet player in a village brass band.
